If you haven’t heard the news already, you are not going to believe what Russell Brand did with his Barbie Doll.
In addition to being a co-star in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, Russell Brand is an English comedian known for reaching the outer limits of humor and is never, ever politically correct. In one of his more popular routines, he complimented the American public on their understanding of people with disabilities for electing a “retarded cowboy fellow” to the White House. The Brits seem to understand him, but he seems a little strange for most American tastes.
In a recent interview with Playboy Magazine, Russell Brand admitted sticking a Barbie Doll where the sun doesn’t shine during a live performance. I’m a little uncertain as to why he felt the need to stick his Barbie Doll in that particular location and his explanation doesn’t shed much light on his reasons either, although he does offer some words of wisdom to those who have similar ideas for their own performance art:
“I chose the Barbie doll because it represents the oppression of women, the stereotype of femininity, the commercialization of sexuality, blah blah blah. But what I learned from the experience, at least in hindsight, is that if you’re going to make a satirical point involving putting things in your rectum, be selective,” he added. “Don’t take requests from the audience.”
As a woman, all I can say is that I am a little confused, but also deeply and incredibly moved by his kind gesture and am eagerly anticipating his next, carefully selected insertion object.
