Have you heard about the latest addition to the Barbie lineup? Why it's none other than Niki Minaj! As much as I don't think she is a great role model for the fragile egos of little girls and young ladies across the world, I can't help but see the appeal she has. Not to mention that she does make an impressive looking Barbie doll.

At first I thought that it was just another rumor that Nicki Minaj was one of Barbie's freshest recruits but as you can see for yourself, it was a smart move by Mattel to capitalize on the appeal and hype that is called Nicki. Nicki has been called a human Barbie by so many in the entertainment field that it seems only fitting that she becomes the real deal. Barbie dolls have always had a desirable body shape which of course causes some natural concerns about the distorted body images and expectations of little girls but now Barbie Nicki has even more voluptuous curves that are not realistic and a personality that is just as over the top.

Now I may sound like I am against this doll but I am right aboard the band wagon. I will be purchasing a Nicki Minaj Barbie as soon as possible and not just because I am a Barbie fanatic. I also swore I would not like Minaj's music and yet her lyrics and personality along with her eclectic sense of style have captured my attention and kept me enthralled since she was discovered. I hope that the makers of Barbie continue with this trend and keep adding more and more celebrities in the future to the Barbie lineup. Not only does it add more culture and entertainment, it also gives the dolls more personality.
