realI couldn't believe the news when I heard that Vera Wang will be designing a wedding dress for Barbie- and for humans! How cool is that?

Mattel is going all out next year for Barbie's 50th birthday, by enlisting the help of 50 designers to create real fashions for dolls and humans alike. The legendary and chic, wedding dress designer Vera Wang has signed up to help celebrate the fashionista's big day.

Another designer who has confirmed his participation is the über hip Jeremy Scott, whose fashions have been worn by the likes of Madonna, Cameron Diaz, and even Bjork(no, he is not responsible for that sad spectacle of a dress she wore to the Oscars in 01).

Mattel will also be releasing a make-up line inspired by Barbie. This just goes to show how Barbie is an icon of fashion. Who wouldn't want to dress the "It" girl of the last fifty years?
